There is one potential advantage of having two partitions each with it's own
os-install.

You can have disc repair utilities installed on both systems/both parttions.
It is possible to boot up on one partition to do repairs on the other and
vice versa.
Running disk utilities from harddrive is quicker than running them
from a cd.

Of course you will loose some space on your harddrive doing it the PristineRec way.
