i guess around 96M RAM should be a minimum : to calculate it itself add DAE (Digidesign Audio Engine) + ProtoolsFree + Macos memory requiremements.
Dae and PT requirement can be viewev when you sekect them and press AppleKey + i -------------------- Soif, MacMusic Webmaster

now get message "ptfree cannot open, 21,178k needed, 14,487k available"
all other apps are closed on desktop. have tried to increase memory but still get same error message with variations in the "memory available" not sure if i have made errors of my own. a simple walkthrough would be extremely helpful. |

Think you'll need a minimum of 128 RAM
What is the mem. alloc. DAE set to (launch sit eperately - from inside System folder - to adjust memory assignment for this) |

I never had any trouble running PT Free (beige G3, 384 meg, OS 9.2.2) once I figured out the I/O configuration preferences. Well, you made me curious, so I fired it up and went to About this Mac. With PT Free running and one mono file open with two control windows, the OS uses 42 meg, DAE uses 29.2 meg, and PT uses 30.5 meg. For comparison, Illustrator uses 53 meg, Photoshop uses 46, Quark Xpress grabs 29 meg, MSWord uses 13.4, and Netscape v7 will grab as much as I give it (the full amount.) -------------------- NO, you can't have any more monitor! 130dB is quite enough!
