The input level under sound seems to be working as it goes up and down when I talk, but I can't hear anything. The volume on my mac seems to be working just fine though. Any ideas?

I'm running a G5

You've probably already done this... In OSX have a look in system preferences, click on the speaker icon (sound) to heck that you've selected the proper inputs and outputs from the list of options. if you're NOT using external mopnitors and a 3rd party soundcard and you want to hear something, you probably ought to select 'nternal speakers' built in audio'. If you use a soundcard it should appear in the list, so select that option.
You should also chreck 'Audio midi setup' to make sure your asudio settings are correct.
Forgive me if this advice seems obvious, but personally I had one helluva time sorting my gear out before I heard a peep from anything!
