Hello!

I am a Reason user and have decided to bump up to Logic Express version 7. The plug-ins that come with it look great. I'd like to get a few good plug-ins third party and I'd like to know - how is the support for Audio Units or VST for Logic Express? What are some good synth plug-ins I should check in to (I'd like something that can produce some good acid sounds, maybe some pads) Any help will be greatly appreciated, thanks.

Logic Express does not support "external instruments". It sounds like you are limited to the ones that come with Logic Express. I'm not certain about this but that is what it looks like under "Select Software Instruments".

Logic Express does support Audio Units and can also use VST plug-ins using fxpansion's VST to AudioUnit Adapter

Some software synths you may be interested in:
Vanguard
Albino 2
Absynth
Audio Realism Bassline
Zebra or Filterscape
Arturia Synths

There are plenty more! Just a few to get you started.
Most of these have demo versions you can download.
Have a look at this list for more available synths

Logic Express does support external midi gear.

It lacks the external inument plug, found in Logic Pro, that allows you to treat external gear like a virtual instrument.
