Is it possible for me to route a signal out of my computer through external outboard and record it straight back into my computer in one go? I’m using Cubase 5 on a mac G4 800, and am using a MOTU 828 mk2. I’ve only had the 828 a couple of weeks and am not fully to grips with it yet. But is it possible to route a signal in Cubase 5 from channel 1 out via the 828 through a valve compressor and EQ unit and record it back into channel 2? I’ve tried it myself but have found that I cannot assign individual Cubase channels or groups to the 828 outs, only via the master output, which just creates a feedback loop.
Is there anyway this can be done without having to record it to another medium, and then import it? Or am I missing something glaringly obvious?
I used to be able to play a take from my Fostex D160 through a channel on my desk and route it back into the D160 in realtime. Is this still possible with Cubase and a multi out audio interface?
(I no longer have the desk or the D160, hence the question.)
And while I’m on this subject, how do you route individual channels in Cubase to individual outs on the 828?
I have the manual for it, but haven’t yet had time to study it, and am wondering if anyone can give me a quick fix.
Thanks. _________________ The internet is a great way to get on the net.
