Hello All,
Well I didn't do my usual in depth research before buying my new computer this time and replaced my G4 Quicksilver with the new 1.8 Gig DP G5. I had two M-Audio cards in my G4, the Audiophile 2496 and the Roland VM 3100 Pro/ R-Bus Card both gave me more than I needed. I bought my G5 with the impression that the PCI-X slots were different and the regular PCI slots would still be the same. Nope, then I see that M-Audio has an upgrade path, great. Now, I start reading various post as to the problems people are having with the 1.8 DP; it works for some people and for others it doesn't. Can anyone elaborate on what the problem is exactly? I am waiting for a call back from the M-Audio tech guy to decide if I need to get a new card or a new computer so any advice, stories, second hand stories would be appreciated so I have more ammo when they start pointing fingers at each other (Apple and M-Audio.)

Another question is, does anyone have any experience with other manufacturers sound cards? It seems that this may be an M-Audio only problem.
TIA Oliver

I have an RME Hammerfall card and they're having similar problems with the 1.8 DP G5. They advised me to not use it on that machine but to use it on the 2.0 or 2.5 DP G5.
