According to Digidesign PT 6.4 should use MAC OSX 10.3.4 as the recommeded OS. Then download the CoreAudio 6.7 driver for Panther. If this is used it should not be so quirky.

Yeah those drivers are pretty shady, I say for personal experience.
do get Coreaudio drivers version 6.7
try trashing the "Digisetup" preferences also, and all the other digi prefs (besides Pro TOols prefs)
Sometimes with Logic, I even need to throw away logic prefs to get the mbox working again with it (but the built audio in still works with it)

Thanks for all your replies!!! Arvid, you saved my life..... I trashed the PT pref and everything backs to normal. I was going to restore my mac, and now I can continue my half-way song!! This forum and you guys are amazing!! Thank you so much!!
