I had that problem frequently when I was using OS9, the newest version of the WMV player is 7.0 or so. The newest version of the player is 9.x, which only runs under OSX. When I upgraded to OSX and WMV player 9.0, the video magically returned. Of course, there are many other variables in my scenario, but I blamed it on the old version of the player. Results may vary.

When you hear or see only one part of the video, in WMP as in QT or other players, it's because the codecs adequate to read the file are not there. So you have only a part of it, something strage or nothing.
