Ok. So I can get midi data from my Alesis SR-16 drum machine to Cakewalk. I can see the track has midi events on it. But When I play it back there is no sound. I want to be able to edit the midi tracks in cakewalk and play them back through the drum machine. What am I missing?

Are your midi tracks in cakewalk assigned to the right midi port/channel? (the obvious)

and the phone support classics: 'have you lighted on the sr16, is an audio out connected, and volume of out is stteled to the right value ? ' wink.gif

Is the Alesis recieving the midi signal? There should be an indicator light on it somewhere.... If it is, do you have the volume on the alesis turned up? Is the alesis audio out hooked up to the computer or other device? Are the volumes turned up on them? Whithout a more defined explination of your setup, it is kinda difficult to trouble shoot.

So I changed the clock in Cakewalk Metro SE to internal and now the midi signal is going both ways.

How do I synch the software and drum machine. When I record Midi parts they quickly get out of synch with the bars of the sequencer, even at the same tempo.

Sorry if these are simple questions but I'm new to midi.

thanks for the help.

Logic would be to set the SR 16 master and cakewalk slave… or the opposite (I don't know either so I can't tell you the best timing aware)

search for that smile.gif
