Any Logic 7 Reviews? Options

Does anyone know of any reviews of Logic 7 on the web. I've read all the stuff on the apple website but im looking for something slightly less biased.

At the moment, there's mostly harsh words on the update politics from Apple (see other threads on that).

A user here reported some troubles with AU plug ins but that all and it can be cured if I've understood well enough.

Don't buy the update. Apple has screwed Logic Users. Audio Units do not work in Logic Pro 7. Apple is charging the same price for a Logic Pro 6 user who bought the update 1 month ago as a Logic 5 Platinum user who hasn't bought an update in 2 years. You are looking at a $500 rip off that is a piece of crap and doesn't work.

The changes are mostly extra plugins, and the dialogue boxes now look like Soundtrack.

No AU developer has yet released non-Beta AU updates that work within Logic 7. Those that have (like Waves) are forcing an upgrade. So if you are using v4.x AU Waves plugins you are now required to throw down another $500-$1000 for the updates to 5.x because of Apple's bullshit move.

What kind of idiots are working for Apple?

this logic 7 crap is so juvenile. have you people never heard or used the plug-in enabler. i use to use it on windows back a long time ago. granted this is a mac forum, and i now use mac and logic 7.
you can use your AU's. you have to open the AU manager, and put a check to enable them. the reason it doesn't work is because at first is because the authorization has changed.
you will get a warning when you start logic about the plug-ins not being authorized or something. just click okay and continue. when in logic 7 you can now select your plug-ins.
developers of 3rd party AU's are going to be coding for compatibily, but until then this should get you threw the AU issue.

next. i often wonder why i read this board. i like it i post fairly often, but not much technical posts are here. always some kinda whiny crap about costs of products, or something totally not relevant to learning to use software or technique of recording.
ever since logic 7 has come out all i have been hearing is don't buy it, apple screwed me or is screwing us. if you don't like it don't buy it. i bought it. i went the upgrade route from logic big box 5, logic pro 6, and logic pro 7. cost me 1000 dollars to get here. because i have a friend who works at guitar center that sells it to me for cost. so it came out even for me.

now. as far as the review being continued. it works fine. there are several new enhancement for productivity. they are there in six also well most of them, but you have to dig and go about shit half ass backwards to end up where you want. with logic 7 those commands and techniques are simplified for you. the new plugs that come with logic are great. they sound good.

i don't think that if you are in a working studio making money i would buy it and put it in production right away. i would get it though and setup a dev environment. run some small projects with it and see what works and what doesn't.

With all due respect you are wrong. The plug-in enabler does not work to enable AU plug-ins that have not been "fixed" by their respective developers. If you force enable the plug-ins from the enabler, Logic Pro 7 is completely unstable and will crash hard and often.

Again, the AU developers are months behind, because Apple hasn't communicated the fact that they were going to pull a bunch of b.s. when they released LP7. And some developers (Waves) are charging for AU updates that will work in LP7. That is total crap and it brought to you by the idiots at Apple.

Tech support is now going to cost $1200 a year - more than the price of the entire program. When you factor the update costs (5-6 $199 6-6 Pro $199 6 Pro-7Pro $299) for a bug-ridden piece of crap that doesn't work you are down at least $2200 plus tax ($1200 tech support + $697 updates for Logic + $300 Waves updates).

Doesn't seem like such a good deal anymore - does it?

Now on the tech support cost you talk about, how do you come to the $1200? What's the base of the calculation, I don't know the scheme myself Enlighten me!

Hi you guys out there....

As a proffesional music maker I will stay away from logic 7 untill everything works, I guess I will have to wait for 7.1 or something like that.

The waveshell from waves are still a beta and a lot of other plugs have issues...

So instead of entering apples beta testing program by upgrading to 7 I stay with logic 6.4.3 even if it would be great to try out all the new features in 7, but then again! great songs are NOT made by plug-ins
