I'm curious if anyone out there is running Digital Performer 3 and the Digi 001 ProTools LE together on the same machine.  I'm building my setup, and that's the way I've been thinking.  I have the dual gig G4, DP3, Motu's Time Piece AV - so I figure I'm pretty set on composing for MIDI.  I'm saving for the Digi 001 (for tracking audio) and for the second Mac monitor (the idea being, one program for each screen).  Have any of you gone the same or similar route?  Run into any problems (with syncing or anything else)?  Anything I should be concerned with?  Thank you.

I have PT LE 5.1.1 +001 and DP3 + 2408 , both installed on my G4. Having both softs installed on the same machine is OK.
Now, if I get your post right, you want to use PTLE and DP3 at the same time, both using the 001. Well...sorry, bad news, that's gonna be impossible. It's one or the other... You can't run two apps using the 001, you'll get a 'Hardware is already being used by another application...' message.
The only way to do this would be to have a dedicated audio card for DP3.
Hope that helped.

did you try to uncheck 'play audio in the background' in Protools, an its equivalent in DP.

I've allready successfully used both softwares at the same time...
(it was a TDM conf)

Thanks for the input. My idea is to run both applications at once on the same machine. Within any given composition, DP3 would be handling all MIDI information and PT LE would handle all audio - keeping those two worlds separate from each other (though synced via time code). So the way I see it (though this could be wrong-hopefully you can tell me) is that only PT would be accessing (if that's the right word) the 001 interface, as all audio would be happening in PT. DP3 would only be accessing the Time Piece AV. Does this sound right? Is all okay with this scenario?

This should be possible (not tested, just guessing)

- Sync PD3 (slave) to PT (master) via MTC (if PT LE can do this)
(you need an IAC driver in OMS to do that, and have freeMidi in DP3 to emulate OMS.)
- Disable audio support in DP (at least disable any link to the Digi001 card)

It may work!

OK, I was pretty confused by Prutulz's first post... The second one is less confusing...though...
What I meant is that you CAN'T use DP and PT along with the 001 as long as audio is concerned. That's just impossible.
Now, on the 'disable audio and all link to the 001', that might work (as long as you don't intend to use the DIGI 001's midi port). But then...we're not really talking 'using the 001 with both DP and PT'anymore...which, I thought was the original question.
Or am I missing something?...
