Sorry if I've missed a thread here somewhere, but I wanted to specifically address the Logic Audio (Big Box) users about LE7.

From what I've gleaned from other forums, it would seem that there is no upgrade path for Logic Audio 6 users to Logic Express 7. One poster claimed that there is an upgrade for about $99. Others claim that you have to pay full price.

There is no way in hell I will pay full price ($299). The only reason I would fork out the $99 is to stay in the support loop. Apple is pulling the plug on v6 users by the end of this year.

More news greatly appreciated.

Thanks, but I've read that thread. Didn't see anything about Big Box users.

There is another thread located in the comments section. All I found there concerning big box was:

"Thank you for your enquiry. I appreciate that you would like to upgrade to Logic Pro 7. The upgrade is available to owners of Pro 6 or Logic Platinum/Gold 5 and 6 for the upgrade price of $499, which represents $1000 off the RRP of Logic Pro 7. There is also an upgrade available for owners of Logic Express 6, 7 and Big Box to Logic Pro 7 which is available for RRP $999 inc. GST. These the only upgrade paths available."

Nothing on the express upgrade unsure.gif You can rest assured there is not going to be any deals.

There is an upgrade from Big Box to Pro 7 for $700. What is not clear is whether Apple considers Logic Audio 6 to be the same thing as Express 6. For all intents and purposes, they are the same thing. But I would feel pretty stoopid if I paid for the $99 upgrade (Express 6 to Express 7) and it didn't work.

Just saw a post on OSX Audio quoting someone at Apple saying that Logic Audio 6 users CAN upgrade to Express 7 for $99. The details are not all clear regarding bundled synths, but I am greatly relieved that I don't have to take a $700 step to keep support.

Apple offers an upgrade from logic audio 6(big box) to Logic 7 express. It can be obtained from the Apple store for 99$.
Emagic has assured me that all plug-ins purchased with the (Big Box)Application will be fully functional with Logic 7 express.
