Problems With Soundcard, Problems with soundcard Options

Im having trouble with my soundcard. Its an ESI Wami Rack 192L which i am running on a power mac G4 under OS 10.2.8.

The biggest problem im having is after start-up, i select the soundcard but often no audio can be heard through it. In the ESI control panel (an application to set preferences) it shows that the audio is going into the card but nothing can be heard. I have to switch off my computer and restart in order for it to work, sometimes i have to do this several times.

They're are other problems such as low recording levels and noise when i monitor. But the main problem is at start-up. I contacted ESI but their help didnt really go beyond re-installing the soundcard and my operating system (which have done several times).

I know not many people own this soundcard on a Mac, but if anyone does or has had similar problems with an other soundcard and solved them i'd appreciate any advice or feedback.
