I had exactly this problem on both my G5 and my G4 before it.
I also have a powerMac runnning logic but this is fine.
I'll look at this up at the studio later.

Never worked for me either. Had logic for about a month.
To try removing prefs look in you user Library/Preferences and search for files with logic in the name.

this problem had me stumped for awhile too. after deleting your LAP preference files, reboot logic--- and here is the key: DO NOT RUN THE SETUP ASSISTANT ON LAUNCH. do it from within the program.
