Hi -
I'm new to MIDI so my apologies if this is a no-brainer. My problem is that I cannot hear the output from a Proteus 2500 when running it through a MOTU 828.

I'm using the Proteus with an Edirol PCR-50 connected to a USB Fastlane 2x2. The sequencer is DP 4.12 running on a G4. I use the 828 for analog inputs and for monitoring the output from DP4. (Patch levels are given below). I have no mixing desk, instead the 828 main outs are hooked to active Tannoys.

The Proteus main outputs are connected to the 828 analog inputs 1 & 2. The 828 input LEDs light up as expected, but the output LEDs do not light up and nothing is audible. I expected inputs 1 & 2 on the 828 to echo to the main outputs but they don't. (It worked with guitars!) The Proteus responds to the controller and to DP4 - I can listen through the Proteus headphone output, just that there is no output from the 828.

I tried using CueMix console to route the 828 ins & outs but when I start CueMix it reports 'no MOTU FireWire devices supporting CueMix DSP detected'.

In short, I'm totally confused. Can anyone suggest how I can hear the Proteus output? Hopefully without buying a mixer! : )

- DM.
