Can anyone tell me if you can import your own samples into the ESX24 in LE, or are you limited to pre-made ESX24 librarys? Also, has anyone used it with an Mbox? I am looking to use it on an iBook 900 G3 w/ 512 as a slave to ProTools LE on a Desktop G4. Mostly to host virtual instruments and samples and do some sequence programming. ( I guess I could also use the mBox to record into Logic if I wanted.) If I can rewire slave my Digidesign Ableton into it, would also be nice. Are the features in the Express version adequite vs. the Pro. Particulary the sampler and plugs. At the educational price, Logic Express is starting to look pretty good.
Thanks, TD -------------------- |

Also, does Express use a hardware key, I'll be giving up a USB port on iBook if so. Anyone?

Noooo! I was thinking of buying Logic Express (next revision). I had no idea it took a USB key. I guess I can't use a USB hub--such as the Griffin Audio Hub. It's a bummer if I have to use native USB with just 2 USB ports on my Mac (I don't count the keyboard ones!).

Any ideas about the Sampler? I guess in some ways the key is cool, if you can have the software loaded on different computers and just use your key.
I'm pretty sure I'm gonna order this thing regardless. TD -------------------- |

Why can't you use a USB hub?
I picked up a $20 unpowered USB 1.1 4-port Belkin portable mini-hub at my local computer shop. The key works fine attached to it. Of course you can get 2.0 and powered hubs too, but I didn't really need those. -------------------- iMac G4 1.25ghz 512, iBook G3 600mhz 384, Logic Pro 6, Live 3, Edirol PCR-50.

I used a Belkin USB hub successfully with my laptop and desktop, A26 and Logic 6.
I now have an 828, bought a Belkin mini-hub for my laptop it has my dongle, Midisport 2x2 and Oxygen8 plugged into it, no problem. -------------------- G-Dub
