ok, thinking about getting a new proper keyboard for using with g4 and logic, had a look in the local stores, some new 88 note weighted keyboards coming out. possible
went to e bay and found korg triton pro 88 for probabaly £650, or a roland fantom s88 for maybe £450. 2 fantastic options as well as hopefully great controller keyboards will this work, or am i missing something? anyone any experience with either as a controller? |

I dont know anything about the Roland, but the Triton will most certainly work.
The Trinity & Triton series of synths are among the best on the market. Very versatile and featurerich. Cheers: Dixiechicken -------------------- ==================

I worked in the MI retail market for three years, so I think I have a pretty decent idea of how things are. The Triton is by far the most popular. Everybody has one and they are very easy to use, however, everybody has already used the sounds. You also don't need the sampling and sequencing capabilities since you'll be using Logic. Forget about the Fantom, it has some of the worst sounds Roland has ever put out. My personal suggestion would be a Yamaha Motif. The keys are actually weighted properly as opposed to the Fantom and Triton, and the sounds are the best out of the three.
Triton - Popular and therefore compatible with everyone else, decent sounds, decent keys, easy to use Motif - Killer sounds, Perfectly weighted keys, mediocre interface Fantom - Brittle sounds, decent keys, poor interface Triton or Motif will work just fine, but save yourself and don't get the Fantom. I hope this info can help you |

I almost forgot.....The Triton Pro88 does not have weighted keys, only the Triton ProX88 has weighted keys. The pro was only manufactured for a short time since the ProX was far more popular. The weighted keys is the only difference between the two. Just a heads-up.

yeah, i'm grateful for this info
my thinking was that since i want an 88 note keyboard, for a little more i can get something like this second hand, and the sound capabilities can save a load of cpu on my g4, which is really struggling to run many virtual synths, since that is what is I mainly use, apart from my guitar and lousy vocals you seem to be suggesting then either triton or yamaha, but is the yamaha likely to turn up on a good deal yet? |
