Hello, I am a little bit confused. I want to buy a Powerbook and have an eye for 2 models. These are the 12" with 1,33 G and the older 15" with 1 GHz, which I've seen for the same price as the 12" one. I need the Powerbook for live performances and also for homerecording. I think the smaller one is better for live things but the 15" better for recording. Which one would you prefer? Best regards

In my opinion, you are paying for mobility in a laptop, so make the most of it. Get the compact laptop, you will appreciate its size when you actually need to be mobile. If you can't afford a desktop computer for at home, and need your laptop to double as your desktop, then pick up an external monitor for your laptop. If you can't afford that -- well, save your pennies. Your eyes will thank you later. On the other hand... having a bunch of stuff squished up on your little 12" screen might be frustrating in a live performance situation... but I've never done that so only guessing.

Thank you all Here's the software that'll run on the powerbook: Logic Gold 5.5 (maybe I'll get an upgrade to Logic Pro) Ableton Live 3 (for playing samples live) maybe Reason 2.5 on the other hand: maybe Photoshop 7 (for web graphics) Webprogramming (PHP) Webdesign That's everything. For homerecording i wish to record 8 tracks together (in the future ) Thank you for your help, kind regards

I own a powerbok 12" on which I run live and dp4 with a remote25 audio. i use it for live performing and a bit of recording, ableton does everything i really need. I also use an external monitor when im at home! Personally, on experience, I would recomend the 15". Ive had the 12" for a year or so and I think of it more as being cute than the math-machine-beast that it is. Go for real estate - maybe wait a few months there maybe a new 15" coming out. The choice is yours....the great being with either you cant go wrong!!
