Hi Everyone,

First, let me say I love Mac and I love Logic and thank you for this forum.

I have 3 questions.

I am shopping for the best Orchestral Samples.
I expect to spend some money on these.

1.) Can anyone shorten my shopping time and point me in the right direction and tell me which samples actually sound like the real thing?

I have played in orchestras for about 35 years, so I desire to find that wonderful real sound.

I need the whole orchestra: Strings, Woodwinds, Brass, Percussion,

2.) Additionally, I would also like to buy a really good sample of instruments with the sounds of the Nations: "International/World/and Native Culture instrumets". Anyone have recommendation regarding those?

I have Logic 6 and Logic Pro 6. I understand that Logic 6 Pro does not use VST, although Logic 6 can. But I have read that that may not be such a problem afterall because of the program: FXpansion VST-AU Adapter (which converts the VST to the Audio Units that Logic Pro 6 uses).

3.)Does FXpansion VST-AU Adapter really work?

Thanks in advance for your feedback.
Blessings,
Nancy

i use the au adapter in logic 6pro - i've not had any problems, all my vst instruments work, one small thing tho, when you have a converted vst instrument open, ie screen visible, in logic, it can effect the scroll bars in open windows - only a small thing, but a tad annoying whene you are editing in matrix with the instrument open

I use Fxpansion and it works well with Logic 6 Platinum. It does have the glitch mentioned above with the scroll bars. I recommend Garritan Personal Orchestra for orchestral sounds. I've used it for several months and the quality of the sounds is excellent. For the "World" instruments, you might start by checking out the sample libraries on the Spectrasonics website - especially the Asia and Africa collections. Go to:

One thing I forgot to mention - if you get Garritan Personal Orchestra, you will definitely want to get the full version of Kontakt to play it.
