Hello all..
I'm graduating (finally) from pc to mac. I'm considering a G4 733 with 512 of ram..40 gig harddrive. Would going to a G4 800 be worth the extra bread? How about the L3 cache? I'm also going to consider performer for my audio/midi software. I'd really appreciate some input from Mac users... Thanks much.. Alta56 |

Hello!
I'm in the same position. I am looking to purchase a powermac and i am thinking about the 733 or 800. I don't really know the difference between the two but i think that if you have a good hardware and software setup on the musical end, than thats what matters. I mean i know alot of people who have the older 450 or 533 mhz g4 in there studio with protools and they seem to work well. I think that that the 733 is definitly enough for me because if i spend less on that, then i can spend more on a protools setup! Take Care, Jlage |

I would say buy whatever you can justify, financially. I bought the slowest available processor in jan 2000, and it is still serving me quite well! Macs are good for that kind of longevity in their performance. Enjoy!
