Hi ! Anyone experienced who give me some advices?

I have just bought the Motu 828mkII and now I am trying make a setup specifically for my studio.
This is a quite complicated situation :

I have four sound devices which I would like to use in stereo.

I have a LXP-1 Lexicon as a reverb.

I have two computers a G5 and a G4 (for OS9 applications)
which works good together because of a USB KVM-switcher
I can use my Motu microexpress for all mididevices on both computers.
(but not at the same time, of course)

I would also like to hear the sound from both computers.

I have a Fostex Line-mixer with 16 channels in and out.

How shall I get all this to work with the 828 MkII ?

There are eight analog inputs on the 828 which I intend to use for the sound devices.

I was thinking of using the S/PDIF connection for my G5 in/out. (But I read something in the manual about clock-syncronization on this matter.)

The G4 will have to go through my Fostex Linemixer, I guess.

Still I have to make some compromises when it comes to my sound devices.

I have to set up a couple of them in mono to make room for the LXP-1.

Here is a scenario:

Digital piano ch 1-2 ,/
Proteus2 ch 3-4,/
U110 1 ch 5 /
U110 2 ch 6 /
LXP-1 ch 7

allright I have one ch left - which could be used as a stereo for a U110 for example.

Mac G5 S/PDIF* in/out [or to my Fostex Linemixer] Virtual instruments would be better going to the 828mk I guess.

Mac G4 to Fostex Linemixer

I have an stereoamplifier (homemodel) and two speakers to all this.

I am a newbie, and for me all this seems difficult.
I use Digital Performer and applications like Sibelius, Overture.

Could anyone please suggest a setup that would suit me?

kind regards
Ingvar

Hi Ingvar,
If I get this right, you should connect 828mkII to the G5 through the FireWire and get access to all in/out channels in DP4.
Buy a ADA8000 to get 8 more ch to play with.
Connect the G4 to this. Connect Main Out on the 828 to the amplifier and sell the line mixer.
Don't forget to connect the Word Clock.

Kind regards
Torbjorn
