Hi, i was just checking out the emagic website, when i noticed the education tab at the top.

Thinking they might have special student discounts i looked at it and noticed that emagic offer a free version of logic (vers. 4.8 i think) for students.

Does anyone know if this will run under osx? I haven't got my ibook yet, but would like to use logic express when i do get it...

Should i bother downloading this, or shall i just mess around with garageband until i can afford logic express.

anyone know if there is a student version available (like the office version for students and teachers?)

Thanks

apt

no 4.8 for OSX... I think lowest version that works on OSX is 5... I don't think 4.8 is free either... I think its just a big discount but I may be wrong as I have not looked at site in some time. cool.gif

I picked up a cheap version of Logic 6 a couple of weeks ago that i think might be a little more helpful than garageband. Its sold in a package called "The Hit Kit".lol, its not exactly proffesional, you get a crap mic with it,but you also get Logic. Its only got 8 audio tracks, but thats ok,considering i only bought it for £10,and if your only just starting to produce music, that should be all you need.

The hit kit does come with some samples, but nothing worth using.you'd be better off buying a midi keyboard,or downloading loops and samples off the internet.I havent fully tried out GarageBand, but GarageBand is based on Logic. If you want something much easier to use,i'd go for GarageBand, but i think Logic is better once you understand how to use it properly
