I.m running Digi 001 on a quicksilver dual 800 G4.

Whenever I go to the Sound Control planel to switch between my CD player playing through the built in speaker or Digi 001 interface, the computer becomes sluggish and sometimes crashes. This is really causing problems because I'm sure many people want to hear CDs and iTunes etc through their high quality Digi hardware. I cant use the speaker outputs on the back of the G4 because all of the new Quicksilvers have the new 'proprietary' connectors and I'm forced to use the Crappy headphone output. How can I fix this?? Can anyone help??

thank you!!

Are you trying to play CDs or mp3s while Pro Tools is running?

I don't think you'll ever get the CD player to work nicely.

Go to the Digidesign web site and search the user conference. Good info there.

What OS are you running? I am running OS 9.1.2 and have no problems playing CD's and other media through my Digi monitors but I am also on a Blue And White G3. The only problem I do have is that some apps such as Reason, Live, Apple DVD and a few others don't like the Digidesign drivers and won't work properly but have no probs using Soundjam or Quicktime to play audio. I would look for some type of extension conflict that is happening maybe.

Apple CD Player doesn't work on Digi 001 output.
You have to use something like SounJam to Play your CD's or Mp3.
Quicktime works noisely when running since Logic is open, and it might be the same with Ptools

ericlc, I think you have something wrong with your system... I can use Apple CD player with Digi output just as good as SJ. Also, i have noticed that Digi drivers do not work well when you have more than one app accesing the sound manager at the same time or open at the same time even if they are in background not running no matter what the app. Hence... you can only receive sound from one app at a time... I recommend quiting other apps that use sound except for the main app you are using unless it is working with PT using DirectConnect or something like that. ICQ sometimes will cause me problems with sound if I have ProTools running and if ProTools is already running... starting SJ or QT will work but they will not output sound becuase sound manager is already being occupied with PT.
