Hey all,

I've decided I want to make some electronic music or something with my Mac and I have the following questions:

1. Do I need a mixer?
2. What is some good software? I already have Ableton Live and Soundtrack.
3. Is this a good MIDI controller? Edirol PCR-30 MIDI Keyboard Controller.
4. What do I need?

Thanks.

1. Do I need a mixer?

-you can manage without one as i do. i find them to be to noisy.

2. What is some good software?

-Cecilia.
-an old copy of cubase (2.5)...you only focus on your sequencing craft.
-soundhack...render your samples in next/sun audio format in 32 floating bit and convert afterward.

3. Is this a good MIDI controller? Edirol PCR-30 MIDI Keyboard Controller.

-The Microkorg is a decent synth and a complete controller
-there is a freesoft for OS9 called the blue quad lfo that will output 4 cc.

4. What do I need?

-an hardware sampler...used... that way you don't get stuck in doing everything in the computer.
-a lot of free space on your drive

i'm interested in what other recommend for a low budget/hassle free set up

You want to make some electronic music or something. Do you want to record vocals and instruments? Or do you want to make tecno, dance music. If it is the later the cheapest and easyest way is to use garage band. Other programs jump in price. If you want to record you can still use garageband. Now if you want to go a bit further there are a number of set ups I could reccomend. I use a mixer but you have to get a quit one. Alot of low end one's are not that good.
Tell me what you realy want to do and how much you are willing to spend.
