I am fairly new to computer music and have just spent my hard earned on a Yamaha SW1000XG audio card for my G3 300 320MB ram 6GB + ext 1GB hard drive set up. I have been experimenting with ProTools Free software (before purchasing the audio card) and found it extremely easy to use. Can anybody tell me if there is any reasonably priced software that has the ease of use of ProTools that will work with the audio card. I have been looking at Cubasis VST 2.0 for mac but cannot find a demo, apart from the full version demo (is it similar?). I basically want a package that will enable me to use both midi and audio (input for voice and guitar) to compose a soundtrack for a childrens musical that my wife is writing. Any help would be appreciated.
Thanks

hi. i use logic and love it ,but it took me quite awhile to understand what it is able to do. so don't use it if you don't want to spend your free time learning its concept. i have tried my friend's cubase and i think it is simple yet at the same time very capable , and i'm sure cubasis is the same, but the reason i'm suggesting it is because of its vst instrument support, there are lots of free ones on the internet, too. you can pretty much do everything in one computer and not have to worry about routing external hardwares. but no matter what you choose, when it comes to audio editing nothing comes close to protools. good luck.

Hi kaboombahchuck, nathanan
Thanks for your comments
I have looked at the Metro demo . . . not bad. But I have decided to go along with nathanan and I have ordered Cubasis VST 2.0 mainly because of the VST instrument (have you seen the free SR202 drum sequencer on Computer Music this month?)
Once again, thanks for your interest
