Any advice? I'm doing a CDROM project and I want to 'suggest' the music in the background.  What is the minimum I need for my G4 to be able to plug some keyboard in and turn out demo-quality with drums and various nice keyboard sounds - possibly - possibly a vocal?
Can you suggest which software? Do I need special card? And what sort of keyboard?  Costs in the hundreds rather than the thousands if possible!

I suggest you look over these forums since this question often comes up. But just to get you started you could use ProTools Free for audio and midi sequencing, iMic as an usb audio input device ( if it works with ProTools - not sure, and assuming your mac doesn't have audio inputs), and a MidiSport USB Midi device which will cost in total between 100 and 200$.
