MOTU has just released their 1.0 OS X drivers for the 828 firewire interface and for their USB MIDI interfaces.
Could this possibly mean that DP for X is lurking in the shadows, about to spring forth? Still waiting by the phone for a date to the prom with DP... |

I just stopped by their site but couldn't find anything besides the "old" driver that's already installed here on my ibook and that crashed Spark ME upon my first humble attempt to test OS X audio.

The drivers were posted in VersionTracker OS X the day I posted the first message in this thread. Check there. I got the USB MIDI drivers, not the firewire, and haven't even had time to install what I got. Busier than a ten-tick dog...

Okay, I kicked everything and everybody out the door and broke down and installed the USB MIDI driver, and it says loud and clear "1.0.0." Looks like the real deal.

Thanks for the info Levon, i'm also hardly waiting for the DP X release and this 1,0 release is a sign IMHO.
Can you elaborate on the performance? With a "rich" MIDI setup (ie many keyboards & data & controlers going)? Is it a "full" 828 support (all i/o & functionalities)? What about the 896? Bye. |

QUOTE (Yukulele @ Nov 19 2002, 17:57) Can you elaborate on the performance? With a "rich" MIDI setup (ie many keyboards & data & controlers going)?. Ummmm, no. Almost all musicalness going on around here (and it's not a lot at the moment) is still going through a box with nuttin' but OS 9.2 on it. I'm on music hiatus. I'm on a Ghandi-esque sit-down strike over the OS X mess. The only thing connected to the G4, which is running X, is a USB FastLane picked up cheap at the Mars Music going-out-o'-bu'ness firesale and a vintage Kurzweil K1000 SE Extended keyboard. That seems to be working just fine as paint, but it did with MOTU's beta USB MIDI driver as well. I have no idea what's different with the 1.0 brand; nothing that's obvious. QUOTE (Yukulele @ Nov 19 2002, 17:57) Is it a "full" 828 support (all i/o & functionalities)? What about the 896? Sorry, I have absolutely no information about the firewire audio drivers and didn't download them. Since I started this thread I *still* see people whining in other threads about there only being beta versions of those drivers, though; they obviously don't know that this thread exists. Somebody ought to clue them in that 1.0 is out so they can download them and smoke test them. I'm sure we'll be hearing more soon... |
