setup: ibook g4 800, 640mb, 60gig, osx 10.3
mbox, pro tools le 6.2

problem: i'm trying to get redrum beats into pro tools and when i set up reason
within pro tools rewire appears to be working, because hitting play in pro
tools transport window plays reason beat. However, when i record
enable the track, and hit play to record, green signal light drops out,
beat continues to play, but recorded segment contains no audio or
waveform, just a straight line. There has to be a way to get this to
work because the reason disc came with the mbox, and reason is listed
as a plug-in in pro tools. Also, I can't seem to import any audio to
pro tools either. I tried doing it this way, but every file I select, even
.wav files are apparently unreadable by pro tools. Thanx for the help.

I had the same problem, but was able to fix it after reading this in the Reason Adapted support pages:

"This is a Pro ToolsReWire implementation issue. The Loop Points have to be set up in Pro Tools. It's not possible to set these up in Reason Adapted when ReWired to Pro Tools.

Go to Pro Tools and set up the Loop points. Reason Adapted will register the positions of the Loop points set up in Pro Tools."

Hope that helps

Perhaps someone else will chime in about whether or not what you're wanting to do is possible...but I've never tried it. I just leave it as is...the two apps ReWired together. When you bounce the song to disc, the Reason stuff will be there. My best suggestion for what you're trying to do is the save the Reason file (from Reason) as an AIFF file and then import it to a Pro Tools track. I've done that before for one of two purposes...either I was satisfied with my Reason composition or I just needed the CPU resources back that Reason was draining.

Those are my two cents. Maybe someone else can give a quarter.
