I have a 700 mhz G4 eMac with 640 mb memory running OSX and am looking to dip my toe into production. I'm considering Reason 2.5 and an Oxygen8 controller or a Korg microKontrol 37.
Do you think this would be an OK way to get started? Or should I save up more $ and look into Logic or Cubase as well?
I'm looking to start with sample-based broken beat/ nu jazz tracks if that makes any difference. I'd prefer to use samples from my own LPs/ CDs.
thanks in advance,
Peter

you can get logic big box or logic express for cheaper than reason 2.5. but you won't get as many vitrual instruments, but you with logic you will get the ability to record vocals and live instrument parts.

happy recording,

jeremy
