History: My home imac with 400mhz, 20G HD and 1G ram and an external fireware hd of 120G: was booting Sibelius 2.0 when my son bashed on the turned on keyboard with midi attached. Things got fried. I put in a clean system, got a newer Motu fastlane midi and stupidly upgraded to Sibelius 3.1. Since being fried, nothing has wanted to work correctly. It hangs, requires huge amounts of ram (Photshop dosen't even need that much!) and won't extract parts-it gives me type 2 and 3 errors! Forget scanning; even though my scanner works fine by itself. All my other appications work great..quicken, emails, word processing, photoshop, etc. I'm asking ya'll at macmall 'cause I'm never home to call Sibelius and I need more info. I have Sibelius 2.0 at school on a dell pc (not large memory) and it works great! Can anyone help?

On which OS are you running ?

Also, you've pushed in a new system, have you cleaned the place before (repair the hard drives or format)?

Did you get rid of the old Sibelius preferences?

well…

Hi, sorry but we don't answer tech question by email, pleeeeease! smile.gif
Also my email bumped at your mail server… so…

Post your mail here, it will be seen by everyone and your post will be read (remember a lot more people actually read than answer than you and me). It'll be also saved in the forum so increasing the knowledge base… Second: email is for administrative means only.

You're in 9.2.2 is it coming from a 9.2 CD ? upgraded from a 9.1 or from a 9.0x? If it's the last option, I strongly encourage to install from either a 9.1 or a 9.2 CD.

Also, errors 2-3 are misbehaving occuring in the system. It cannot be Hard drive related as you formated so… huh.gif

Have you installed/desactivated extensions/control pannels?

To play on the safe side I'd zap the PRAM (command+option+P+R on start up, wait till your hear 3 times the startup sound and release, it's to be done fast after turning on the computer)

Now if this little things are not enough… someone got an idea?

Thanks. To complete some forgotten info..Sibelius 3.1 is running on os 9.2.2 and I did zap pram to be safe. I've tried one attempt at creating a new extension set with only the necessary ones for music work..Sibelius, cd burner, printer, scanner, turbo mouse, toast; must of not had it right, 'cause it didn't work. If anyone knows exactly what should be active - that might help. Does the order the extensions load in matter? I'd appreciate your continued support! I'll keep working on it..but am getting close to upgrading to a new mac : biggrin.gif ! But, then I'd have to chose which one!

As one of the MM teamer is very near the development of Sibelius I asked him his opinion, he can't be definitive as he's no more on OS9 for a very long time, BUT it looks like for him it's an extension problem.

Start with a minimal set, check, add one by one.

if the problem appears try to change the order… it can matters.

As with all extensions conflicts,it's difficult to be definitive and with a fast answer.

good luck & courage! blink.gif sad.gif

Make a search on sibelius here too, there may be already something around here wink.gif

Many thanks for the encouragement. I will work on the extension conflict. I found a copy of my extensions when Sibelius 2.0 was working and am trying to see what is especially different. A bit challenging since I upgraded to 3.1 and many things are different. wink.gif

Many Thanks, I'll recheck the threads. I've also contacted Sibelius and checked their help site. Do you want to know what happened when I get this cleared up? Again, you are loads of help!
