 Possible Switch From Protools To Logic, need help.. |

I'm currently using an mBox with Pro Tools LE. I'm very comfortable with ProTools but I'm not satisfied with the MIDI. So, I'm thinking of switching to Logic Express when it comes out. It'll do everything that ProTools does and does notatio, which I like.
So, what I need to know is, what would be a logical replacement for my mBox? What plugin architecture does Logic use? Will there be a learning curve? Any other ideas would be great. BTW, Garage Band rocks. I know there has been some discussion around here - just my two cents. Thanks |

I am not familiar with Logic express but Logic itself does notation.
I feel that ProTools is best for audio editing and sequencing but Logic does midi best. There is a bit a learning curver until you understnad how the different windows in Logic operates and understand how midi is routed but as long as you read the manual and understand midi basics... you can learn Logic. You can keep your Mbox and use Logic with it actually. Logic in OS9 uses VST and Logic in OSX uses AU (audio unit) plugs. I have yet to try garageband but it does look interesting

Have a look at my pinned post on the Mbox in OSX… worth reading.
 Dmrkh, it's casual talk… people should use the search and read… but there's still need for some updates, ilke the one I did on the Mbox. Now, PT is intuitive, fast, in audio, decent sequencing and MIDI for the rest of us. Logic is good in audio (one of the best around) but has a workspace and a philosophy less accessible yet that can be learned. It's MIDI side is certainly the most comprehensive around. The most flexible too. I'd try the demo before, and have a look at Digital Performer, as strong in Audio but easier in the MIDI. Isn't there another thread around here about hui's for Digital Performer? Any word on an elegant all-in-1-outta Cupertino? GarageBand ala eMagic ala Mackie's take on the 001? |
