I recently bought a new studio setup Mac G5 (dual) running OSX 10.2.7 Logic Platinum 6.3.2 Motu 828mkII midiman 8x8 Mackie Control Universal V2.1 Now my Xmas reading has been manuals so I haven't actually recorded anything on logic yet but looking forward to it. I do a lot of tv stuff until now on a VS1680 setup so this should be easier. However, I can't seem to get the Mackie control to work with logic and wondered if anyone might be able to offer any suggestions. I have it connected as follws: 828 firewired to G5 midiman USB to G5 Mackie (set to Logic control) midi'd to midiman Now for some reason if I touch a button on the Mackie I get a synth note from Logic! I got it to work for a brief moment then it died on me. I've tried Mackie tech support and they couldn't help really. Logic just can't seem to recognize the Mackie. Can anyone help? Thanks Steve |

Hey Steve,
What has happened with the frustrations, did they go away? Sounds like a case of software driver conflict, but would I know. I am interested in learning from your case history if ya don't mind sharing. |

Hi,
In all honesty, after several calls to Sweetwater, Mackie and Emagic none of whom were able to help, I still don't really know. I think it probably was some kind of driver issue though. It all works now and very well too. I thought I had all the latest drivers as the system was brand new but I installed the drivers from the various manufaturer sites anyway and the problem seemed to solve itself. Cheers Steve |

Something I've picked up.
I like to purchase my software "in the box", as opposed to just downloading it. However, just because I purchased "it" today, that doesn't mean that "it" hasn't been sitting on the shelves of that brick&mortar store a month/day; a new driver might have been released an hour ago. Point? I load the shipped driver, after I've checked "their" website. Follow me? |
