to record a bass guitar while traveling. can i just use an xlr (from my di) to 1/8" adapter? can it be that easy?

i already have logic configured on my powerbook (g4 867 12") and have been using the headphone out to monitor. and i see where i can select the powerbook's input as a source. i already have a mic from my portable md unit i'd like to use to record some mandolin and such.

is my assumption about recording an instrument direct correct?

i'm not looking for stellar quality here, just something for demo's and such...

thanks,

tony

Yes, that should work just fine... nothing stellar, but will do in a pinch. Just watch you gains... start low, then bring the di gain up to a sutable level.
