Dude, your friends are crybabies. Nothing "absolutely smokes" a G5. I just bought a G4 (with various beefed-up options) in June, not knowing that the G5 was coming out so soon. I was a die-hard Windows fan for 10 years before I wised up.

So I'm drooling over the G5s that I can't afford now, but that's my only regret. My system doesn't freeze. I don't get viruses. OSX is just so much freaking COOLER than Windows. And since many, many media development software programs are NATIVE to Mac, I know that I will have more fun CREATING stuff on my machine than I EVER had playing games...Which is not to say I don't still.

So be happy with your conversion--you are now a member in the Cult of Mac.

mongrel... welcome to the Mac community... always nice to hear when someone has been on the dark side of computing and has seen the light

just curious what made you switch since you had been on the other side for so long?

Well a few things made me switch.

1. I was forced to by a Powerbook by my school (apparently Berklee and Apple have a "partnership")

at first I wasn't too psyched because I wanted to play games too lol but then I started reading reviews and so on and then I sat down with OS X and it's awsome I love it (much better than XP (btw my PC has window blinds running so that my Windows shell looks exactly like OS X)

now that I have "seen the light" this is my new corny slogan:

Once you have mac you never go Back lol

(corny I know)

"window blinds"? Now that got my attention. For those times when I must endure the "XP"'rience, where can I find such? huh.gif

What was interesting and funny to me was when my university upgraded from Windows NT to Windows XP the lab computers slowed to a crawl. They are now almost unusable because they are so slow. Mac OS 10.3 actually sped up my computer from 10.2.
