hey, you heard right, there are zero audio inputs on (i think) all new macs. kinda sucks, but depending on what you are going to do with it, you can find either a usb or firewire port audio interface.

The new G4's have 1/8' stereo inputs and outputs. So you just need an adapter for RCA

Wrong, cornflake. Orange is right.
I have a new G4/466 at work and there is NO audio in. There's a miniplug audio out and a digital speaker out (for Apple digital speakers).
If you want to get sound in, you've gotta go with a PCI card, a firewire device, or a USB device. I have a Midiman Delta Dio PCI card on mine. It works, but it's very flaky. I suggest, from what I have heard lately, that you go Firewire. It all depends on what software you're gonna use, of course.
If no audio in hacks you off, and it should, you might want to find a used or refurbished AGP G4. I have a G4/400 at home and the minijack input works very well.

I have a G4/400mHz which has minijack in and out, I hadn't realized they stopped putting those on the new G4's. That sucks.
