Hi.

Has any one, set up 2 macs working side by side to make music with.
Im thinking along the lines of.

G3, is being used to run Vst Apps, and stand alone samplers.
G4, is being used to Run Logic platinum.. and sequencing.

How are you using them..?
and what are you using for your stand alone sampler.. (soft sampling.? )

Hello,

I use a similar setup - in fact at least 3 Macs:

G3 for sequencing/multitrack audio with MotU 2408 (& AM III card) running Logic Plat. (or PT 5 LE) - this is my main comp.

G4 with Digi 001 & video rec. card running Logic plat., PT 5 LE, Premiere and Spark XL - can be used as standalone system - I use it sometimes for location recording - it's more or less 'portable'.

Quadra 700 with SoundTools II & SampleCell running SoundDesigner & Logic Plat. - this is still my mastering system (although G4 w. Spark is v e r y good).

These machines are connected to a pair of Yam. 02R's (with additional 4 ADAT's w. BRC), sync'd to video svhs via C-Lab TimeMachine.
4 MTP II's for MIDI connected between modem a n d printer port of G3 & Quadra.
Samplers (hardly used - I prefer synth. expanders or recorded real instruments) are EXS24 on G3 / SampleCell on Quadra plus some ext. like Akai S2000 and Dynacord ADS.
There's some additional comp. network stuff too plus some small 'standalone systems': Umax Clone w. Audiowerk 8 running Logic Plat. / Quadra 700 w. AM II running Logic Plat. & SoundDesigner / IIci w. AM II running SoundDesigner ...
In fact I really own 5 Logic Plat.
But most of the time I use only parts of this setup.

I hope this gives you some inspiration
Kind regards
Walter
