Will a G3 Powerbook work for recording? Has anybody had any luck?
13 Jan 2006
I have a Powerbook G3 running MacOs X. I just purchased a Griffin imic as I read great reviews. I'm receiving a very small signal through it, with much "humming" in the background.

Hey,

I was recently given a G3 powerbook and also purchased a Tascam US-122 interface. Can anybody lead me through getting compatible recording software and altering the settings on my powerbook to start recording? Much thanks.

Hey,

I exchanged my old interface with a new one, being the Tascam US-122. I'm having a whole new set of problems, though. The software I'm recording on, Audacity, freezes when I'm trying to record using the Tascam interface. When using the built in mic, the recording is fine. All of my recording is done on a G3 with MacOs X. Any help would be great. thanks,

Hey,

I just received a Mac G3 laptop as a gift and am planning on using it for recording. Yesterday I also purchased an Edirol UA-20 audio/midi interface. I tried installing the required software from this website. There is a UA-20 for Mac installation link about halfway down the page. I tried installing it by clicking the icon on my screen, which let me choose between 2 versions of the software; one for MacOs 9 and one for MacOs X. I clicked on MacOs X, as that is what I was using. Then there were directions (in Read_me) for me to install the program by clicking on the UA20USBdriver.pkg icon. This is where I encounter a problem, as a screen pops up saying "Open Failed. Couldn't open 'UA20USBdriver.pkg'" I am very new to Macs and have no idea where to go from here. Any advice would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.
