as im starting out i know very little, im curious as to the importance of a compresser and effects processor in a home studio setup

someone recommended a channels trip as something to consider down the line, is this just a compresser and effects in one unit

tc electronics have two software products called fabrik c and fabrik r
these can be bought bult in to the konnekt 24d interface

im considering getting a konnekt 8 interface
then a tc electronics m1350 and c300

would that be the better option, how do they perform
in comparison to the ones built in to the konnekt 24d and other standalone units
are they one of the most important things im the studio and should i be looking to
get better ones in future

thank you if anyone can adress this, and sorry if im focusing on something irrelevant

ok, so im getting an imac, expanding it to 3gb, getting logic 8
i have speakers and studio headphones
next i guess i get an audio interface

what i want to know is, what is a good interface to get that i wont feel i will need to replace
as i learn more
im thinking a motu 828mk2 or m audio nrv10(which includes a mixer)

what would you choose.

considering i dont want to add guitars, or vocals to my music

then what??

what do you guys add as time goes on to improve your capabilities

keyboard, mixer, ...?

i want to be able to have eventually some great tools in order to make electronic/industrial style music

also(a strange question)
is there anything out there to recreate the sound of anvils, machinery, vaccuum hisses, clicks and clunks etc etc

what do you have in your studios that enhances what you can do outside of whats in logic

i forgot to mention the external harddrive, (firewire or usb?)

im planning onbuilding my first daw
an imac 2.4ghz and adding 2gb of crucial memory
and logic 8 for 900 pounds
an external harddrive for 65 pounds
then adding an apogee duet for 330 pounds

i have a harmon kardon reciever and acosutic energy evo 5.1 speakers which cos a fair bit so im hoping i can implement my home cinema with making music on my mac

i dont plan on using many outside instruments such as guitar or recording vocals for the music i intend to make

the i mac has an optical output/input than i can connect to my avr
but im curious if that negates with apogee

can i use both at the same time, ie be in logic creating tunes with the added sound of the apogee coming through my avr systems speakers

or would it make more sense to get a firewire audio interface wih its own optical inputs, ie a 130 pounds cheaper presonus firebox

thanks if anyone can help
