hi all, I just got a Presonus Firebox for my Logic Express and couldn't be happier with guitar usage. I need help with my keyboard hook up. It is a Roland E-35 synth with midi out , no usb as it's a few years old. I want to use this as a controller to get Logic sounds. The Firebox comes with a cable SPDIF cable with 2 midi ( female) plugs as well as 2 phono ends ( also female). Would a simple midi cable ) male on both ends) connecting the midi out on Roland to the midi in on the SPDIF cable work? Anyother tips would be great . thanks in advance danny dannymangold@gmail.com

QUOTE (houstonmusic @ Thu 24 Jul 2008, 15:59) the firebox has a split out cable with midi and spdif. it's a midi interface. you should be able to choose it in your audio/midi setup app as the default interface, connect to it with normal midi cables, and it should appear as a midi input in your sequencing app. make sure you've got the most recent drivers installed.
it looks from the picture of the split out cable that the midi jacks are male, which may present a problem with a normal cable (male to male). perhaps i'm wrong.
should work. hi houston, thanks , i sort of thought that was it, but being a lifer non midi guitar guy, i feel like a newbie at all this. the firebox is perfect tho !! danny
