I'd go more in the ASUS/MSI path for the motherboard, save if you want to overclock, then Gigabyte is a good choice.

DVD burner : plextor, I'd check for the alternative firmwares beforehand anyway.

I'm concerned about the hard drives, to buy from only one maker may not be a good back up policy. Plus as you'll buy them at the same time they are more likely (or not) to fail at the same time.

If the page they had is still around at the Cubase website, I'd check their list on which computer they did the development. It's a good path for stability.

In fact I did move to some other items

Dedicated PC For Music
Rack - Antec Take 4 + PS (650W)
Gigabyte GA-X58-UD5 (3X FW ports (TI chipset)) SATA 3 & USB 3.0
Processor INTEL Core i7 980X (3.33Ghz) (6 Cores 12 Cores Virtual)
RAM - 12 Go - Corsair XMS3 DDR3-1600 CL9 6Go (2X3x2Go)
Graphic Card - Gigabyte GV-R485SL-1GH (Radeon HD4850 2 x DVI)
HD 1 (OS) - Samsung 500 Go 7200 RPM S-ATA II 32Mo
HD 2 (Audio) - WD 1To S-ATA III 64Mo (Caviar Black)
HD 3 (Sample 1) - WD 1To S-ATA III 64Mo (Caviar Black) SATA3
HD 4 (Sample 2) - WD 1To S-ATA III 64Mo (Caviar Black) SATA3
HD 5 (Save) - Samsung 1To 7200 RPM S-ATA II 32Mo (Spinpoint F1R)
DVD Burner- Asus DRW-22B1L (Black)
OS - Win 7 Ultimate (Optimised for DAW)
Audio Card - TC Electronic Studio Konnekt 48 + Remote control
DAW - Cubase 5.5.1

Working perfectly
I did change ASUS for GYGABITE because of the Firewire Chipset on the ASUS (using VIA) the GB is using TI)

Regards

Fred
