My Content
I've used Performer and DP for nearly 10 years now. They are like an old friend. However, I have never fully utilized DP's capabilities (and who could?). I use it mainly for doing accompaniments for my sax playing (weddings and such) and making demos of band arrangements. Only once have I recorded audio into it. I mostly export midi to audio with it using SF2 GM/GS synths I have customized. (iTunes and QT Pro lose alot of audio level when rendering midi to audio as I mentioned in an earlier thread).
If I were to sell my DP4, I would still want something as useful to me, but not as expensive / expansive and something that is easy on my CPU (G4 450). I also want it to be SF2/VST/AU compatible. Are there any suggestions? I have looked into GarageBand, Logic, et al., but have come to no conclusions.
Please help with this "big" decision.
Whether using iTunes or QTPro, when I export a midi file to aiff (using my own soundfont per QT music prefs), the volume is dramatically lowered. I even customized the iTunes export to 48000 khz and 16-bit. It helped but not much (improved from pppp to ppp). Does anyone have any idea how to solve this. I am trying to sell some jazz play-along CDs on eBay and need to solve this problem.
I also have DP4, but it will not render from a soundfont (or will it?). And before anyone suggests it, I do have and use wiretap but I have hundreds of SMFs to render and that would take weeks.
Any help would be appreciated. Thanks.
