I bought my mini (brand new) 2 months ago from London, i live in Athens - Greece. After a months use i started to get many unexpected application quits and finally Kernel panics (the grey screen) and not been able to boot. I asked Apple in Athens for support (within warranty) and they told me THAT NO SUPPORT IS OFFERED by APPLE in GREECE, ONLY THE PLACE I BOUGHT IT FROM.

I attemted to install Osx 10.4.2 again from the disks i got with the mini, first i did all disk checks from the disk utility and got no errors, i did the zero data to wipe everything off and started installing OSX, installation reaches a point (writting files to the HD) and it stops, i get a message "installation failed", there's nothing i can do.

So my experiences are not so good. Coming from a pc/winXP platform, i can assure you i had less trouble, crashes and much better processing power for the money i pay. I do acknowledge that osx is a much better looking interface than any other. If anyone doubts my experience, look into the apple forums and see other mac user problems.

I am at a stage where i have a mac mini, that cannot boot or have the OS installed, unsuable, no one can resolve my problem and APPLE in Athens tells me that they cannot offer support to me.

Hi everyone,
would it be possible to replace the hard disk that comes with the mac mini (1.42Ghz, 512Mb ram, 80Gb HD, combodrive) with a new one that is 7.200rpm ?

If so, would this cause heat/noise issues ?

thanks

Hi everyone,
i am looking to get a new powerbook (either 12" or 15" both 1.33Ghz) with 1Gb Ram and 5400 built in HD and also thinking of getting the motu 828 mk1.

My question is what latency - how low (playing back soft synths-effects) should i be expecting to get, only while playing back, if i record something external that will probably be only one instrument at a time. I am looking to have something like 16-24 tracks (mixed audio, soft synths & effects) probably some version of logic.

I currently have the RME multiface which gives me extra low latency playing back vsti's (1.5 ms) on an old intel pentium III but i'm looking to replace this (due to firewire connectivity, mic pre-amps on the 828 which i'll need) with the motu 828mk1.

thanks in advance

Hi everyone,
i'm new in the forum and a prospective powerbook user, my dilemma is the 12" or 15" powerbook?

I am aware of the differences (the 15" has more screen res, 1Gb ethernet, up to 2Gb of ram, pcmcia slot, 800 firewire)

The only reason i would prefer the 15" is the pcmcia slot since i already own the exellent RME multiface card, the other options do not tempt me that much, since i can still use an external monitor with the 12" at any resolution.

If i get the 12" (with 1.25Gb ram) would i be able to use the MOTU 828 (mkI), in the specs of the card i read that the connection is with standard 1394 FireWire.

Has anyone tried this with the 12" powerbook ?

thanks in advance
zak
