What happened to the PowerBook G5 rumors. I think there is hope for one or will it have to wait for the developer's conference. The Powerbook is looking around and saying, "what about me!"

for what I've read, apple wants to stay slim with th powerbook series and the G5 is tooooo bigggg! so maybe they will put the processors outside the PB laugh.gif but who knows it may still be coming this year!?!?!?!?

Whether they're accurate or not, this month all of the Macworld editors are predicting a G5 Powerbook by spring or summer.

..hi! Guys...

Powerbooks G5.. later this year.. before that, they will make are heads spin a little more with the Powerbooks Dual G4's... uh la la!.. that's what I heard... at least... and it makes sense, if you watch the development for the Desktops. I heard also the problem to have a powerbook G5, is not actually the sizes but the heat. If the Aluminiums are already to hot to even have it on your lap (oops! what happened to the term "laptop"... unsure.gif !!)... I guess the laptops G5 could also be used to fry eggs and warm you on the winter... (I hope they don't charge extra for this extra features..!!)..

I heard also there's a third party company hired by apple just to deal witht this heat aspect. Since quite some time already.. they are trying to fit the "thing" in the tiny format... or else.. maybe the G6.. will do... heh!

Cheers...

I have had 3 G5's and 6 repairs since Aug.
I literally hate my G5 2x2. It has been nothing but trouble. I have lost clients due to the outages. Apple has sent repair people to my house to fix it, and they have broke them worse. EX. yesterday a gent comes to my house to fix a processor whine when in column view. Apple sent him one processor. uh excuse me. i have a dual cpu setup. I have to have matching cpu's. well the guy installs it anyway without knowing if the cpu is a match to the computer other processor. well i think we know what the problem outcome is. It blew the other processor and logic board. hmm. G5's hmm.. bogus excuse for a computer.

i have had my powerbook for two years. no problem. I am back to using my powerbook to work on music and video deadlines. takes twice + as long, but it is working. I have requested a fully loaded 15" powerbook that will connect to my cinema screen for replacement. I do not want a G5. I am doubtfull of there reliability. As I should be.

They want to try and fix it again. So my gripe is this. Why should i pay for 2500 USD for a computer that they are selling for 2000 USD on there refurbished site. I mean this problem has been here since I got the computer. Twice repaired, and broke once by there own "CERTIFIED GENIUS." come on give me a break.

A G5 powerbook sound rediculous to me. if they can't build a tower that works-why bother with a notebook where the parts have to be crammed together?

err. i am so pissed.

sorry for the rant. *editbrain*

I've got my G5 2x2.5 two weeks ago, and I am having the time of my life!!! I sold my PB 17' to get this new machine and I hope that everything keeps on working as well as of today. I agree with you, if these towers are reliable as the quadras (my last tower) use to be, for my type of work, been sound of graphics I prefer them. The portability issue is great but up to a certain piont.
