with driver versions 1.7 and up, i get a 1.5 sec lag when adjusting the volume via the volume keys on the number keypad. (Apple G5 2.3 GHz, OS 10.4.8)
if i have the m-audio control panel output pane open, i can watch the faders move one by one, from right to left.
twiddling the level controller doesn't show that behaviour.

with version 1.6 there is no noticeable lag - it works the way you'd expect.
has anybody seen this behaviour?

cheers
phil

ps. i posted this on the m-audio feedback site twice but got no response.

I have the same problem when adjusting the volume with the volume icon in the Finder bar. I called M-Audio and they said that the volume icon is supposed to be disabled, but in any case I should use the level controller to change volume.

so in other words the volume keys and the menu bar fader shouldn't work at all? did they say why? that's extremely odd, seeing as it all works perfectly with the 1.6 drivers.
anyway, thanks for your reply!

Yeah - strange as it sounds, that's what they said.
