Hi There!

I'm preforming live with several pieces of equipment (iBook, tascam US428, MC505, S2000, Kawai K4 etc) and all is controlled by the iBook running Cubase. I want to intergrate my Sony MDM-X4 multitracker as a backup (it has midi in/out/thru). The basic idea is that I sync the iBook with the multitracker, just in case my iBook goes banana's... (happened to me once... not a plesant experience!). The only problem is that I can only slave my mac to the Sony, and not the other way around. By doing this I create only more problems in Cubase than solving them blink.gif

The sony only SENDS MTC and MidiClock, and when I use MMC, the Sony will stop when Cubase stops. I try to find a way to give the sony a startsignal from the mac, and then let it run independently (so it will be at the same timepoint in the song if my mac drops out).

Can anyone give me some suggestions on this toppic? Has anyone worked with a similar system before? I've heard about a "midi-off box" (that will filter your midi so it will only send midi-on), but I can't find it anywhere.

Any response is welcome!!!
