Hi everybody,

sorry to annoy you all with these basic and stupid problems but....you're really my last resort. I need an external microphone to be used with my powermac g5 1.8 dual. This computer doesn't have a mic in but an analogic line-in socket so most of the low level computer microphones won't work. I also want to avoid USB mics and leave them as very last resort if nothing else works. I read on the internet that I'd need a condenser or cardioid self powered microphone but I haven't found anybody who connected one of those directly to the g5 (I mean, without any other additional expensive hardware such as preamp and so on). Has anybody tried it? Which microphone would you reccommend? One last note....I don't want to spend a fortune!!

thanks

funny enough, the other day i saw a 1/8 to xlr cable in an applestore. I was astounded and really intrigued as to how that actually sounds. I think the cable was like $40.00 (around there), but that is your option of plugging direct a condenser mic. I mean, i seriously doubt any success in terms of achieving quality audio, but hey, it's you just might want to check it out.
