440 Forums _ iMusic: iPod, iTunes, MP3 etc. _ How To Set Default Import For .wav?

Posted by: wilhelm808 Fri 26 Jan 2007, 04:10

Whenever I put a CD-R in my G4, it reads the files as .aiff, and I would prefer to import them as .wav files. I went ahead and imported a bunch of samples off a CD-R when I saw that I'm supposed to be able to use .aiff in Reason, but when I tried to use them, I got an error message in the Reason sample browser saying the file format wasn't supported.

how did you import them?

just dragging files off the CD with the Finder should result in 44.1/16 aif files which Reason should have no trouble with. You could also use iTunes by just setting the import format in the preferences > Advanced > importing.

anyway. SoundConverter should also let you go from whatever you have to whatever you want.

I just dragged them to a folder. I'm not sure what is up w/ Reason. I would use iTunes, but I don't want to have to go in and convert a bunch of little samples one by one. I think I'd prefer to use .wav when possible, anyway...in case I need to give samples to someone on a PC for a remix or something. I was thinking about getting something like CDXtract, but I'll check out SoundConverter...it's much cheaper.

Thanks!
