Hi Chaps
Have noticed a fair number of people on many Mac forums are based in my vicinity.
So i wondered whether a locally based Club/society/union, might be of interest and use to us.?
Im based in OXFORD uk.
Along with several other Mac heads.
I'd be interetsted to hear from anyone who thought a locally based informal Club type thing would be cool, or not as the case may be.
Forums are Great, but they lack immediacy and social interaction.
So anyone Up for a beer?
This should apply equally to Newbies and seasoned Pros.
(no I'm not a newbie, ive been Mac'ced up for several years (I still have a Mac classic and LC 475 in my loft!)
I'm willing to help others, so why not start a bit of 'on the Ground' networking chaps.!

What a nice idea macmax!

I must tell you that i'm currently redesigning the whole site, and as the member's count becomed high, i intended to build a member directory, sorted by country.

You gave me an idea! smile.gif

I could add an meeting management system, where one local 'meeting leader' could propose a meeting (with date & location proposals) and others members could add themself to the list of interested visitors.

If enough visitors, the leader could choose to validate the meeting, and each other could meet at the proposed location.

Does it sounds interesting to you?
If enough people interested, i will certainly build this system in MacMusic! cool.gif

You want it? you like it? any suggestions? anybody help?

Just in case…

You'll find more lottery winners in the proper classified section. It'll be a better place and more effective. (You lucky b… give it to me, even if I don't have a PCI slot free for it, confiscated wink.gif (Steve one slot more!)

And to adore our supreme webmaster is no use for that wink.gif

Beware or I'll come with my Flying Saucer and my Laser, tadaaa

ELSE, great idea! cool.gif

Ho Small green man from middle size red planet.
I tremble before your power oh great one.
(ps my heritage has been questioned of late, and the consensus is that i'm not human, so perhaps we are related?)
Or deadly enemies from another quadrant, who knows?, who cares? who even notices?
Ha Simple but effective method of obtaining slots. and processing power
wink.gif
1) Buy a 95/9600
2) Fit G4 Processor upgrade and 1Gb of RAM
3) Network with Other machine(s) (ethernet)
4) fit Lexicon core system (inc daughter board) pci card
5) fit TCpowercore(when youve saved up the pennies)
6) Fit Fastest SCSI card you can for own disks.
7) if you really want to be flashy Fit firewire card (preferably tha sonnet, along with the sonnet Processor upgrade) (can use target mode)
wink.gif
8) sit back and enjoy all the extra power and processing abilities and
laugh at the accurate sync thats possible between machines!
wink.gif
9) Admire your bank balance, in that its black and not red, even though theres not a lot left in it.
wink.gif
10) All this still leaves a spare slot for second video card.!!!!
wink.gif
11) Struggle to find room for 3 monitors behind mixer.
smile.gif wink.gif
I admit its not perfection, and i'd much rather have a Dual 1GHz G4 with say 6 or even 8 PCI slots, as well as twin Graphics and built-in DVDrw/CDrw. and 2x23'cinema displays (or even 2 x 60' plasma displays!!!)
but it does work, and with relatively little fuss.
Alternatively, Embezzle 16Million Quid/Euros and buy whatever takes your fancy.
Max
PS can i borrow your raygun sometime, theres a bank manager who needs a little talking to!

I'm in Australia, most happy to assist with the get-together ideas, what about webcasting q&a sessions with a pro speaker- could work out a cross-promotion thing with one of the teaching places or pro who macs it (like the dudes in the creative section of the Apple site- worth a look). But for starters I would love to meet and brainstorm with other macmuso's, share collaborate, leech as much free advice and over-shoulder looking at how they do it as possible.

For the macmuso gathering and so on, our beloved webmaster is working on it (we'll arrange a meeting for locals in Paris also (just 20 hours of plane from Australia, peanuts wink.gif.

As he's coding like mad, it must be a crazy thing he's working on %)

My laser is mine, I've got a banker too wink.gif

[OT] For the moment I'm pertty happy with my BW G3 400 1Go of Ram even if it's pci slot challenged. But who knows, maybe the pro graphic workstation Apple is consulting for… I won't ming a quad G5, dual AGP, 4+ PCI thang (that could be a dream machine)

for the moment i'm paying my soundcraft 328 2nd hand so it'll be for some other dimension wink.gif [/OT]

Just bringing this to the top as its gone horribly quiet......
It does seem as if many users are a bit apathetic tho,...
or are musicians with macs also highly susceptable to agoraphobia???
I currently have 5/6 users in the OXFORD uk region, but theres no reason others cant hijack this thread to instigate a similar idea in their own locality.
