sorry for that question but i just got a new powerbook 1.25ghz with 1 gig of ram --- i am using an echo layla.
when i use cubase 1.06 or reason 2.5, projects that were rock solid on the pc are seriously putting a strain on the mac cpu. even the reason demo does. that shouldnt happen. right?
i thought surely the 1.25ghz mac would be at least as powerful if not more powerful than a 1.8ghz pc.

could it be bad ram? i bought it from macMall, and they installed the 1gig memory upgrade. was that a mistake?

what could be making this beautifull machine so slow?

thanks in advance

my first day on a mac.......very impressed. but i feel like a fish out of water....

i cant seem to get the bloody thing to recognize my layla24. the little pc card icon at the top right of the menu says "unknown vendor, multimedia device," and in the system prefs it doesnt show up. and of course my audio application wont it show either.
i downloaded the latest osx driver from the echo site, unpacked it, double clicked the install file. etc..
seemed pretty simple. restarted, and its not showing.

can anyone with a layla offer me some advise. it's definitely me who's doing something wrong....i think
