Hi everyone,
Does anybody use ESI QuataFire 610 ? Are there any problems with the drivers for Mac ? I heard there may be some problems with this interface , as the producer says , some features are limited . Can anybody tell me , is Quata working fine? I need a small , versatile , not a very expensive USB/FireWire audio interface . Quata seems percect for me , but I'm a little concerned about these troubles when used with Apple's computers.

Thanks

The Quatafire is a very interesting option, as it is firewire at nearly the price for USB-interfaces.

According to ESI the problems are mainly restrictions in Apple´s firewire audio implementation. Mac OS 10.3.4 and above should work fine. The Quatafire needs a fimware-upgrade if it´s not the newest stock. This firmware upgrade is avalable from www.esi-pro.com - but it´s only for XP (!) So you will need access to a friend´s Wintel computer to do the firmware upgrade.

OS 10.3.4 and above and new stock Quatafire should work.

One limited feature is that you can use only one midi-in although the interface has two inputs. Software bundle is not mac-compatible. ESI would like to include Ableton Live "light", but only the full version has firewire support. ESI says that they will include some Mac-software in the future, at least a good sample editor.

I have not tried the product myself, but my music-dealer tries to convince me.

Hi erstokke, 3Head and everyone!

Any stories about the QuataFire yet? I don't know why, but I find it to be the most appealing choice in this ever-growing pile of inexpensive audio interfaces. It's just exactly what I need for it's purpose. Windows users are complaining about driver issues (like never before) but what about the Mac...?

Thanks,
Finn
